Thank you for your question. We offer two versions which can be a little confusing. If you have a sensor with two terminals one will go to ground and the other to the light. If you have a sensor with only one terminal the sensor will ground through the threads and the terminal will trigger the light.

It could certainly be hard wired to a tach that has a shift light output (cutting the existing connector off of the tach).
