Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont buy it Bought it to maintain my spare 16 volt battery for my race car. Plugged it is and it started charging, battery was already fully charged before I started. Left it on and came back 4 hours later expecting to see it in maintenance mode. Charge light was still on and battery was super hot. Unplugged it and let it sit over night. Checked the battery with my Rock/Moroso 16V charger and battering immediately went into ready mode. Plugged the Auto meter extender it back in and lights came on and immediately shut off and wont come back on. I am returning it to Summit for a refund

QUESTIONS:

When does the charger go in desulfation mode? Can it be manually put in desulfation mode??

Asked by: chris 4
Thank you for your question. The charger cannot manually be put into desulfate mode. It will automatically desulfate the battery when the charger determines it needs to be done.

I'm trying to 'top off' the 8V batteries in my golf cart. This unit applies 10V during the charging cycle but after literally days, the unit is still in the charging cycle. Never gets to the maintenance mode even with freshly charge new batteries

Asked by: RJames
If this unit never switches to maintain, we may need to tale a look at it. You may call us at 866-248-6357 to get an RMA for evaluation.

Hello,    I have a auto meter 9201 battery extender & it was connected to the battery with ring terminals. The negative post has a lot of corrosion.  What is the best was to hook it up to my c6 corvette so I don’t have a problem?

Asked by: AnthonyS
Ring terminals on the battery posts is still the best way. We advise cleaning the terminals prior to installation and the use of dielectric grease to impede the oxidation process.

I just replaced 6 arm starting batteries on my motor home with 4 Deks 1131mf standard batteries. I installed  a BEX- 5000 charger/maintainer. It indicates that it is charging at 12 volts but the battery type shows AGM and won’t reset to standard.

Asked by: PEEB
Thank you for your question. The mode switches on the BEX units will only work if they are changed while the unit is powered on but NOT connected to a battery. Any attempt to change settings while connected to a battery will not work. You will have to have it powered up while not connected to the battery, then change to the desired setting. This will be retained in memory and then you can connect to the battery and use it normally.

If in maintenance mode and power goes off will it need to be manually reset when power comes back on?

Asked by: Forest
Thank you for your question. This is a smart charger and it will detect whether it needs to charge the battery it is connected to or if it just needs to maintain it. If it lost power it may go immediately into charging mode when it powers back on but it will quickly recognize the battery is charged and then switch to maintain mode.

NO LIGHTS SHOW WHEN CHARGER IN CORRECTLY CONNECTED TO BATTERY. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG

Asked by: RALPH FARRAR
Hi Ralph, thank you so much for contacting us. With the unit plugged into the wall, you should see indicators, especially when connected to a battery. If the battery is absolutely stone dead, there may not be enough voltage to wake the unit up. In order to keep the connections spark free, the charger looks for a tiny bit of voltage before turning on. With a totally flat battery, it will never see that and not turn on. With that said, please feel free to give our tech team a call at 866.248.6357, hit the Chat link at the top of the page or email directly via this link: https://www.autometer.com/resources/index/ask_a_question Hope this helps!
