The absolute pinnacle of engineering and technology, it’s no wonder AutoMeter can lay claim to more motorsports victories than every other gauge manufacturer combined. The patented air core meter movement, wound in house to exacting standards, can move the needle from 0 – Maximum RPM in 333 milliseconds. An ultra-bright LED shift light guarantees you hit your shifts perfectly, every time. An inaugural inductee to the Hot Rod Speed Parts Hall of Fame, no other tachometer on the market has had anything approaching its impact on professional racing. Built for a lifetime of service under the harshest conditions, this is the no compromise tach for no compromise builds. When you’re ready for the best, there isn’t another choice.

REVIEWS:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tachometer Great product, it is accurate, nice to look at, precise and simple to set up and use (Recall, Erase functions, and setting the shifting light level). At night, it looks good, although not as bright as the II Series of AutoMeter.

QUESTIONS:

How is the 2 stage shift light set? I don't see a dial or anything to set either stage other then the set button. Also the recall and erase buttons are for the highest RPM obtained?

Asked by: 1968
When you are in the “shift set mode” you can adjust the pointer position up and down with the buttons to set the actual shift point. Yes, recall would be the highest RPM only, not a playback.

How does the shift light tie into the tach? I ask cuz I would like to replace the pencil light with the bigger shift light. Is there a plug? Would I have to cut & sodder wires? & Is that even possible?

Asked by: Ghost
Thank you so much for contacting us. There is a cable with a two pin connector coming from the back of the tach that looks like this: https://www.autometer.com/quick-lite-3-ft-extension-wire-w-connectors.html This will connect to any AutoMeter shift light, though if you wanted to use a different device, you could certainly cut the connector off and wire it directly. The harness supplies 12v all the time and completes the ground circuit when the specified RPM is met. Hope this helps!
