QUESTIONS:
I would like to use it with my 2006 Pontiac Solstice which is running a stock 2.4 Ecotec engine. Would I need to use the 9117 to have a signal that would work with the tach? I have a dedicated signal from the stock ECM that was updated using HP Tuner.
You will need an Auto Meter model number 9117 Tachometer Adapter. Locate the Pink wire with a black stripe prior to the ignition coils. Cut this wire in half so that all 4 coils are now dead and wire the 9117 tachometer adapter in series between the two cut halves. The adapter will produce a usable 4 cylinder / 2 ppr signal.

What is the difference between a 3699 Sport Comp II tach and a 3904 SPort Comp tach other then the lighting?
Hello, thank you for your question. One is LED and the other is incandescence. The LED gauge is also lit through the dial so the dials are different.

Assuming this tachometer has red lighting, does orange lighting available?
Thank you for your question. This tachometer uses a standard incandescent bulb. You can swap in an LED bulb, however, we do not have an orange LED available.

what would hardware would be needed to install this in a 1990 dodge 12 valve cummins turbo diesel. the truck has no tachometer from the factory so a sensor would need to be installed on the harmonic balancer. do yall sell such a sensor/hardware kit
Hi Steve, thank you so much for contacting us. It's actually very easy to install a tach on a diesel using our Diesel Tach Adapter. It has a pickup that straps to the outside of the alternator. Here's a link to check out:

Hope this helps!

It is used for three cylinder engine cars
Hi David, thank you very much for the question. Typically, a 3 cylinder vehicle will require a 1.5 pulse per revolution calibration, which the 3904 Tachometer is not capable of. You would have to consider something like our 6851 https://www.autometer.com/5-tach-9-000-rpm-single-range-pro-comp-2.html
or 3966 https://www.autometer.com/5-tach-9-000-rpm-playback-sport-comp.html
We would recommend reaching out to our service team at 866.248.6356, hitting the Chat link at the top of the page or emailing us to confirm these will work with your application. Here is the link to email us.
