QUESTIONS:

Would a stock speedometer cable for a 1973 VW Super Beetle work with this or do I need an adapter of some type?

Asked by: Mark F
Thanks for the information. Speedometer Service says that an electric or GPS unit would be more cost effective and accurate for this vehicle application.

Item #3994 is listed as a 5 inch speedo, but other suppliers list the sizes as 3.94 x 3.94 x 3.94. What are they referring to, is that the size of the actual face of the dial ??

hi, can I set the odometer to my vehicles current mileage when I install?

Asked by: davey
Thank you for your question. After you receive your speedometer you can send it in to us and we can add miles to the odometer to match your current mileage. There is a $25 fee to do this and we can only add miles. we can never remove miles. Here is a form with the information for sending in a product for service: https://www.autometer.com/media/Service_Form.pdf

I'm selling my gauge set. How would I go about resetting the mechanical odometer to 00000.0 for the new buyer?

Asked by: Camz28
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately due to federal law, odometers can never be reset to zero. You would have to replace your speedometer to accomplish this.

I have one of these in my 95 chevy pickup. it used to bounce a little at slower speeds but now it shows 60 -70 MPH at slow speeds and just gets worse with speed. Is there anything inside of it that can be replaced to make it work properly again?

Asked by: nobody
Thank you for the question. If you're experiencing a jumpy pointer on a mechanical speedometer, we'd recommend first checking to confirm the cable is properly lubricated then ensuring there are no severe bends or kinks in the cable. Otherwise, if you'd like us to evaluate the speedometer, you can send it in to us using these instructions: https://www.autometer.com/media/Service_Form.pdf

can I get this gauge with a black outer ring. have a 69 chevy c10 and using the factory bezel to seat this into with a recessed appearance.

Asked by: recenthusiast
Thank you so much for contacting us. We could certainly do a special order for you on this gauge and have it built with a black bezel. It's typically $25 to do a custom and those need to be called into our team at 866.248.6356. If you'd prefer to get something right off the shelf, we do have a very similar speedometer that might fit the bill for you here: https://www.autometer.com/5-speedometer-0-160-mph-mechanical-z-series.html Hope this helps!
