Cobalt egt gauge stuck on 700 degrees.  Gauge still works just  doesn’t go to 0.

Hi, I bought a car with this gauge in. Can you provide me a resistence spec for the probe?? And, am I able to buy just the gauge itself if my probe tests out good?? My gauge is stuck around 400 degrees. I'd like to buy only what I need for this to work.

Asked by: Martyn706
Hi Martyn, The gauge is not sold separately. The probe and harness are part number 5251: https://www.autometer.com/replacement-probe-harness-assy-for-full-sweep-elec-stepper-pyrometer.html The probe is not resistance based, it is a Type K Thermocouple. An Internet search for Type K Thermocouple specs will bring up the mV to degrees F chart you need. Thanks, Jim

I reversed the power on the light when I was hooking up the gauge, and heard a pop. Gauge works, but the light does not. I assume it is the circuit for the led. Is that replaceable?

Asked by: Gauge_Newbie44
Thank you for your question. This gauge would need to come back to us for evaluation and service. Our service form can be found at: https://www.autometer.com/media/Service_Form.pdf

I noticed that the hole in the 1/8 npt bolt for the pyrometer to fit through is larger than the actual probe itself. Is there anything I can do to keep it from leaking?

Asked by: C.J.
Hi, There is a small gap between the probe and fitting to allow for heat expansion and contraction. Exhaust gas leakage through this is negligible, and will not be noticeable. Thanks, Jim

In this series of gauges are the LED lights able to be dimmed?  If so do you sell a rheostat for them or will any 12 volt one work. Thanks for the help.

Asked by: Bowtie3t
You can use P/N: 9114 to dim any of our LED lit gauges.

Is the thermocouple available as a spare part for your pyrometer , had my unit for maybe 5 year and I am now experiencing signal problems from temp probe. The display gauge will bounce from 0 - 100f in quick succession, I expect it’s the couple. Graeme

Asked by: Graeme
Thank you for your inquiry. The thermocouple for this gauge is available as part number 5251: https://www.autometer.com/replacement-probe-harness-assy-for-full-sweep-elec-stepper-pyrometer.html

Do you sell the probe only for autometer pyrometer cobalt am6144?

Asked by: Herald
Thank you for your question. The probe itself is not sold individually, it is only sold attached to the wire harness. The wire harness and probe is part #5251.
