QUESTIONS:

Will this gauge work with a VDO V360023 sending unit, It's in a VW and the VDO sending unit also works with the stock oil pressure idiot light

Asked by: Tonyd945
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately this gauge will only work with an Autometer 2242. It will not work with a VDO sending unit.

Is everything included to install this in my 2017 Jeep Wrangler (3.6L V6) or do I need to purchase additional items? If so, what will I need?

Asked by: Trucker
Our gauges aren't necessarily vehicle specific. You will need wiring (18-22 gauge) and preferable 1/4 female inch spade terminals to make your own harness. The sender we include is model 2242 and it features an 1/8 inch NPT fitting.

I installed this product on a 1996 Dodge 12V cummins engine. Product worked fine for 4 months then suddenly stopped working. Where can I find troubleshooting information for the sending unit and gauge? Can you post sending unit resistance values?

Asked by: ScottyBee
Scotty, The sending unit resistance value can be located below: 2258/2259 ºC ºF Ohms 38 100 1123 49 120 708 60 140 460 66 150 374 77 170 253 88 190 175 99 210 123 100 212 119 104 220 105 110 230 89 121 250 65 138 280 42 149 300 32 160 320 25 171 340 20 You will also want to make sure no teflon tape is used on the sending unit threads as the sender grounds through the threads.

What is the mounting-depth/clearance-required, including electrical connectors?

Asked by: RobR
The mounting depth would be around 3” but if you want to cut mounting stubs and be a little creative, you could get to around 2-1/2”.

what type of data is the sender outputting to the gauge? is it voltage, resistance or something else? i'm wondering if i can splice the sensor wire to an ECU to read the oil pressure in there as well.

Asked by: dingdongdrift
Thank you for your question. Our short sweep electric gauges are simply ohmmeters and measure varying resistance from the sender. All short sweep models use the 2242 sender which has a resistance range of approximately 250-43 ohms.

Asked by: ITAB
Thank you for your question. You can use P/N: 3229 or you can use P/N: 3234.

Good afternoon, I purchased this gauge but now realized that it will not work in tandem with my data logger which requires a two wire (k and g terminal) sending unit. Which gauge do I need to purchase for this type of sending unit? Thank you, Dennis.

Asked by: Heavy
Hi, Auto Meter makes no 2-wire pressure sensors. Thanks, Jim
